4M Lawn Care was founded in 2018 by Derek Mills, but the roots of this business run much deeper. Derek always believed he was called to build something of his own — not just a business, but a reputation grounded in integrity, consistency, and service to others.
He started with little more than a push mower, a borrowed trailer, and a simple prayer: “Lord, guide my hands and grow this with me.” Every early morning, every late summer evening, Derek poured everything he had into caring for each lawn like it was his own. Over time, word spread — not just about the quality of the work, but about the way it was done: honest, dependable, and always on time.
The name “4M” stands for Mills. Mowing. Maintenance. More. But it also stands for more than just landscaping — it stands for the belief that hard work done with the right heart can build something lasting.
Today, 4M Lawn Care serves property managers and multi-property owners across Northern Kentucky with the same faith-fueled commitment that started it all. Because we still believe the little things — showing up, doing the job right, and treating people well — are what make the biggest difference.

Meet The Owner
Derek Mills
Raised in Independence, Kentucky, Derek grew up with small-town values and a strong work ethic rooted in faith, family, and discipline. He attended Thomas More University, where he played football and earned his degree in Criminal Justice — a field that taught him the importance of structure, accountability, and service.
After college, Derek followed his entrepreneurial calling and launched 4M Lawn Care in 2018, starting with a single mower and a mission to build something real — a company that property managers could count on and a business that honored God in how it served others.
When he's not managing crews or walking job sites, you’ll find Derek staying active, working out, and spending time with his family. His life revolves around his faith, his fitness, and making sure 4M Lawn Care lives up to the standard of doing things the right way, every time.
